Christian’s entrepreneurial spirit was cultivated early in life, working alongside his family in Mexico City. From running taquerias to managing a party supply business, he honed his skills in food, event decor, and customer service. His family’s party business, which specialized in piñatas, candy, and balloon arrangements, became the foundation for his passion for event design.
But like any seasoned entrepreneur, Christian knew when it was time to pivot. After years of success, his family’s business faced challenges during the swine flu pandemic, leading to its closure. This experience taught Christian a valuable lesson: knowing when to adapt is key to long-term success.
A Leap of Faith to Canada
In 2019, Christian and his wife made the bold decision to move to Ottawa, seeking a better quality of life and new opportunities. Despite not speaking English fluently and leaving behind a thriving career in Mexico, Christian embraced the unknown with determination. His first venture in Canada was a taco food truck, Linda Maria, which quickly gained a loyal following for its authentic flavors and handmade tortillas. However, the demands of the food industry, coupled with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, led Christian to close the business and explore new horizons.
The Birth of Ottawa Event Planning
Christian’s next chapter began with a simple idea: balloons. Drawing on his experience in event decor, he started Ottawa Event Planning from his garage, focusing on balloon arrangements. But it didn’t take long for his creative genius to expand the business into a full-scale event production company. Today, Ottawa Event Planning offers everything from custom balloon walls to , light up dance floors, LED arches, champagne walls, and life-sized themed decor.
